Do oil-immersed transformers need frequent oil changes?

Generally speaking, whether oil-immersed transformers need oil replacement or not, they need to be inspected regularly:

1. Check the oil temperature

Under normal circumstances, the transformer oil temperature will inevitably rise due to the operation of the transformer. However, it will have a certain range and cannot exceed 85 degrees. When the oil temperature is too high, check whether the transformer is overloaded. If the load current is reduced, Indoor ventilation and heat dissipation should be strengthened.

2. Check the oil quality

The main thing is to check whether there are impurities, sediments, etc. in the transformer oil. These will cause the quality of the transformer oil to deteriorate and affect its use effect.

In order to ensure that the transformer oil plays its important role, we would like to remind everyone to conduct regular inspections on the three major aspects of transformer oil level, oil temperature and oil quality. Once problems are found, they can be solved in a targeted manner.

3. Check the oil level

The oil level mainly reflects the amount of oil in the transformer. The oil level in the transformer must not be too low. Once the oil level is too low, it will inevitably lead to a decline in performance in all aspects and the overall loss of the transformer will increase, which will have a great adverse impact on the transformer.
